INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER RESOLUTION

All files must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch). Images with a resolution less than 300 dpi will reproduce poorly on press (the image will look fuzzy and/or pixilated). If you took your images from a website on the internet, there is a 90% chance that they will not be a high enough resolution for printing (unless the images came from a stock photography house and are designated high resolution).

The internet displays images at 72 dpi, so that the images appear quickly over an internet connection, but under no circumstances should they be used for printing. If you submit low-resolution files for printing, you will not be happy with the quality of your printing.

Below is an examples of low resolution (72 dpi) files and a high resolution (300 dpi) file. Please review these examples to ensure that you submit your files the correct way and you get the best quality possible.

EXAMPLE OF A LOW RESOLUTION FILE

Please review the example above. This is an example of a 4" x 6" postcard or flyer with low resolution (72 dpi). Notice that all the text and graphics look blurry, fuzzy, and pixelated. There is no process with printing that will make this look good. Your print will come out as bad as it looks on your screen. To see an example of a high resolution (300 dpi) file, refer to the last example on this page.

LOW RESOLUTION BLOWN UP TO 300dpi

Please review the example above. This is an example of a 4" x 6" postcard or flyer with low resolution (72 dpi) that has been blow up or changed to high resolution (300 dpi). Notice that all the text and graphics still look blurry, fuzzy, and pixelated. Don't believe everything you see on TV! There is no way to increase or "enhance" the resolution of an image. The only way to fix this is to redesign the file from start to finish at 300 dpi. To see an example of a high resolution (300 dpi) file, refer to the last example on this page.

HIGH RESOLUTION 300 dpi (This is the correct way)

Please review the example above. This is an example of a 4" x 6" postcard or flyer at high resolution (300 dpi). Notice that all the text is clear and sharp. By keeping to these standards and being cautious about how you create your design, you will be very pleased with the end results.
